Enabling Technology Accelerants
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” - Arthur C. Clarke
GPU Architecture, followed by Compute Unified Device Architecture. Just a decade ago, mainstream chip architecture was x86 and the dominant industry giant was Intel. This all changed with Nvidia released Compute Unified Device Architecture in 2006. [1]
Before Nvidia's launch of CUDA, demands for training AI Models exceeded even the most powerful computers. With CUDA, suddenly the game was on.
While a prophecy that Moore's Law would peter out as chips got so small, getting any smaller would be prohibited by the laws of physics. However, the rise of TSMC in Taiwan empowered a new breed of chip makers that would reinvent the fundamental design of chips, while allowing TSMC to manage the "Fabs" -- fabrication plants. So, Moore's Law continues unabated. This is why protecting Taiwan from the mainland CCCP is of massive global geopolitical importance. [2]

With chip design seeming to invent its way out of constraints, influential technologists now foresee the constraint will be having enough electricity to fund a dystopian number of cloud computing centers (server farms). This has led the tech giants to directly invest in Small Scale Nuclear power designs, with the idea that tiny nuclear power plants can power server farms, a hack to break out of the constraints of the power grid. https://youtu.be/wnHyYKNnUTo?si=2_qftXcL0jUO_9r2

As tectonic shifts in Enabling Technologies change the realm of what is possible, "technology windows" open that were previously shut. [3]
